Design Idea: Window Seat with Barrister Cabinets
Heritage Cherry Square in Spice
The barrister cabinet on the left is a UB2455 custom cabinet with doors from W2418 cabinets.
The barrister cabinet on the right is the same UB2455 custom cabinet with
three W1824GDF doors hinged on the 18" side
The window seat is constructed from a W1242 wall cabinet placed on its
side and supported by a field installed toe kick platform.
A pair of filing and barrister cabinets nicely frame a window seat and
create an inviting focal point in the room.
- Smoked glass cut to fit GDF doors are from a local glass shop.
- Decorative shelf is constructed from FB1 furniture base molding and and
TBP triple bead pilaster. Apply rosettes for support and style.
- For added depth and dimension, use UF6 fillers to pull the window seat
away from the wall.
- Use brushed brass pulls and knobs from the Designer Collection (D-4
& D-7) to protect the finish and add flair.
- F684 fillers with overlay and rosettes transition cabinets to a shallower depth.
- Each filing cabinet is constructed using three DHFD18 drawers in a custom
modified DHFD1855 case.
